SWISSto12 marks a year of stellar growth

SWISSto12, one of Europe’s fastest-growing aerospace companies and a leading manufacturer of advanced satellite payloads and Radio-Frequency (RF) systems, is celebrating 2023 as a landmark year after securing a major HummingSat contract with Inmarsat (acquired by Viasat), doubling its team, inaugurating new production facilities, securing financing and exceeding €200 million in customer backorders across its Satellite and Radio Frequency product businesses.

SWISSto12 pioneers a new class of commercial GEO Smallsat, HummingSat. HummingSat allows telecommunications operators to deploy lower unit cost and agile assets whilst maintaining performance and reliability. The first HummingSat is developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency and will be launched by anchor customer Intelsat in 2026. 

Some of SWISSto12’s notable achievements in 2023 include:

  • In May 2023, SWISSto12 signed a contract to supply 3 HummingSat satellites to Inmarsat (acquired by Viasat 2023) to support safety communications and accurate navigation services globally.
  • In September, €26.15 million of working capital financial facility was secured from UBS Switzerland, to meet growing customer demand.
  • In November 2023, ESA and SWISSto12 signed a contract for the full development and qualification of HummingSat.
  • The company now has in excess of €200 million of customer orders backlog  across its satellite, Radio Frequency components and subsystems business.
  • Opening of 2,000m2 of additional factory space and facilities including a large clean room.
  • Doubling of the SWISSto12 team to over 100 employees in Switzerland, Europe and the USA.
